1. Spiritually Enlightened.
Spiritual enlightenment will be one of the earliest signs of a spiritual person that someone spiritual will manifest in their life.
And this enlightenment we are talking about is the kind of enlightenment that comes from God alone and His word that leads you into the path of truth.
There are so many paths of spirituality in this world that promise spiritual enlightenment be it from the false religions and gurus of this world but the truth of the matter is that they will just lead you astray.

3. Deep love For God’s Word.
A highly spiritual person who loves God wholeheartedly will love and delight in God’s word and meditate on it day and night so that they don’t stumble or sin against the Lord.
We are told in Psalms 1:2 that someone spiritual will delight in the law of the Lord which will direct their spiritual path towards true enlightenment.
On the other hand, if you are a carnal person, you won’t delight in God’s word nor will you meditate on it day and night as you will find it boring and offensive as God’s word isn’t flesh friendly.
This is because natural man cannot perceive spiritual things found in God’s word which will be foolishness to such people as they are spiritually discerned.

And this love you will have is the imparted selfless agape love that only comes from God found in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 that will enable you to selfless love others without expecting anything in return.
Without this agape love from God which isn’t self-seeking, you won’t be able to selfless love others the way Jesus Christ expect you to except if you are getting something beneficial from them.
This is because we as humans, are naturally selfish and self-centred and are only willing to love others if we are getting something beneficial from them and this can be seen in many friendships and relationships nowadays which don’t last.

5. Prayerful.
A highly spiritual person will have a very active prayer life as they understand that they are in spiritual warfare with the spiritual forces of wickedness in high places Ephesians 6:12 talks about.
Spiritual people understand that without prayer, they won’t be able to neutralize and quench the fiery darts of their spiritual enemy who is the devil in this case.
Remember, we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood which is why prayer is very important in a life of a spiritual person who wants to defeat the devil as, without prayer, you won’t be able to overcome Satan’s temptations.
But if you are a carnal person or carnal Christian, you won’t see the value of prayer in your life as you won’t understand that a spiritual battle of good vs evil and between light and darkness is raging in the spiritual realm.
6. Renewed Mind.
If you claim to be a spiritual person, you will have a transformed and renewed mind Romans 12:2 talks about that conform to the image of Jesus Christ.
Having a renewed mind is important in the spiritual journey of any person pursuing spirituality as without having a renewed mind, you won’t experience spiritual growth because you can only grow spiritually if your mind can perceive and understand spiritual things.
A renewed spiritual mind is what differentiates a spiritually-minded person who minds spiritual heavenly things from the renewed mind of a carnal person which only minds carnal things of the flesh.
However, if you are still a carnal person who still has a carnal mind, you won’t be able to understand spiritual things which will be foolishness to you due to the untransformed carnal mind which is still active in you.

7. Inner Peace.
A spiritual person will feel and have an overwhelming sense of peace, even though your circumstances may not reflect this peace.
This is the peace Christ gives us when we receive Him into our lives that surpasses all human understanding the world cannot give you (John 14:27-31).
And it’s this inner peace of Christ Jesus that will make you calm and peaceful even during the raging storms that may be raging in your life.
Without this real inner peace that only comes from Jesus Christ, you will never experience and know what true peace is. Of course, the world promises peace but this peace is false and cannot satisfy your soul.

If you have the transformed nature of Christ in your life, you will be compassionate towards others, especially those who are poor and needy, or less fortunate than you as Christ was kind and compassionate to others.
And this compassion will not be restricted to only people that are easy to love but will also extend to all those who don’t deserve your compassionate heart. This implies that your compassion won’t be based on how others treat you.
But will be Christ-like as Jesus Christ is compassionate to everyone even to those who are His enemies and don’t deserve compassion based on human standards.
This is why Christ said in Matthews 5:45 that we must be kind, loving and compassionate to everyone including enemies or wicked people who do you bad just as our Father in heaven is who causes the sun to shine on both the just and the unjust or the god and the evil alike.
9. Faith In God.
A spiritually enlightened person on their spiritual journey towards the truth and spiritual enlightenment understands that without faith, it’s impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).
He or she understands that their spiritual life is nothing without faith and not just any faith as there are many different faiths in this world that don’t lead to the truth but just lead people astray.
The kind of faith we are talking about here is the true living faith based on God’s word which comes by hearing (Romans 10:17) and leads one to the truth and true spiritual enlightenment.
It’s the kind of faith that believes God can change every situation in their life, no matter how bad it is. Spiritual people are always optimistic about life and they understand that nothing is impossible with God.

Patience and longsuffering which is defined as the ability to patiently endure hardships and difficult situations without murmuring are one of the clear signs of a spiritual person that one will manifest.

But if you are spiritual, you will practice patience as you understand that patience is crucial for spiritual growth which takes time and doesn’t happen overnight as well as receiving the best from the Lord.

Spiritual people are happy and content with little and need not clutter their lives with stuff to experience happiness that only comes from within and Christ alone.
If you are a person who practices true spirituality that is biblically-based, you will show godliness with contentment in your daily life which is the greatest gain and wealth you can ever have found in 1 Timothy 6:6-10.
Remember, real happiness, joy and contentment most people seek in vain outside be it in material things, money or in another person can only be found in Christ, the only person that can you joy that truly satisfies your soul.
And as a spiritual person pursuing true spirituality and spiritual enlightenment that is Christ-based, you will understand this and you won’t seek happiness and contentment in any other than Jesus Christ.
12. Experienced The New Birth.
Last but not least, if you are a spiritual person who has experienced true enlightenment which comes from God, you will experience a new birth with will transform you from the inside.
The new birth is an event that happens in the life of a person when he or she repents of their sins and turns to God for salvation and it’s this new birth that makes a person have a changed nature and be a new creation 2 Corinthians 5:17 talks about.
And if you are a spiritual person, you will have this new birth of Christ in you that will now make you spiritually minded and no longer interested in carnal things of the flesh that Carnal people without the new birth of Christ in them indulge in.
