10 Signs Of False Doctrines [To Be On The Lookout For.]

There are many false doctrines and false teaching in the church today and this post will look at some of the 10 signs of false doctrines that will help you spot any false doctrine or false teaching coming from any false teacher who claims to be of God.

If you are not careful and vigilant, the false doctrines and false teachings that are in many churches today will lead you astray, hence endangering your soul of hellfire.

But this article today will help show you the 10 signs of false doctrines that all false doctrines have so that you can protect your precious soul from eternal ruin. Let’s dive in.

What Is A False Doctrine Or False Teaching?

The term false doctrine or false teachings most often refers to a doctrine or teaching that is not right according to the Bible. This is a doctrine that is not true in any way, shape, or form and is devoid of the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that guides one into all truth.

One person may teach a false doctrine, or a group of people, who have learned and then taught something that is not true. Most often, false doctrines are seen in the religions of the world.

These religions do not believe in the God of the Bible. Instead, they believe in many gods, such as Allah, Buddha, and others. They also deny the deity of Jesus Christ and His death on the cross for our sins and much more.

1. Deny The Deity Of Christ.

False doctrines from false Christs and false teachers will always deny the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ and claim that He isn’t God manifested in the flesh and that He was just a normal man.

This is why 1 John 4:3 tells us that any spirit that doesn’t confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh is the spirit of the antichrist and there are a lot of such antichrist false doctrines from false teachers preached on the church pulpits today.

There are many false churches or cults that teach that Jesus Christ was never manifested in the flesh or that He wasn’t the son of God, to begin with. Be careful with such false doctrines and avoid the false teachers who teach such.

2. Materialism.

Materialism will also be one of the signs of false doctrines that you will see if you spend more time hearing these false teachings devoid of the truth that aren’t even in the bible.

Someone who’s a false teacher will always talk about materialism and riches instead of the gospel of repentance and salvation that we all desperately need. This is has become a trend in most churches that don’t preach about sin anymore.

These false teachers perpetuating these false doctrines forget what Jesus Christ said in Luke 12:15 that the abundance of one’s life doesn’t consist of what they have materially.

3. Contradicts The Bible.

Any false doctrine taught by a false teacher or false prophet will always contradict God’s word that is why it’s a false doctrine or false teaching in the first place.

There are many such false doctrines and damnable heresies today that have nothing to do with scripture and directly contradict God’s word in many ways you need to be aware of lest you get deceived by them.

This is why 2 Peter 2:1 warns us about false teachers with their false teachings and destructive heresies we need to be aware of and avoid them at all costs to avoid getting deceived by them.

4. Sensual.

Another sign that will show that the doctrine or teaching you may be hearing in the church is false is that it will be sensual and very appealing to the flesh.

This is the case in many false churches today that just preach false teachings that are just there to arouse the flesh or make the flesh feel good. Holiness and sin are no longer preached by many false teachers today which is sad indeed.

The apostle Paul warns of such in 2 Timothy 4:3 where he says that the time will come when most people will not endure the sound doctrine of the bible but will prefer listening to false teachings that are sensually appealing to their sinful flesh or make the flesh feel good.

5. Doesn’t Lead People To Repentance.

Any teaching or doctrine that doesn’t lead people to repentance isn’t from God but from Satan himself as he wants many people to go with him to hell as possible.

And the best way of doing that is to ensure that this vital doctrine of repentance isn’t taught in many churches today and he seems to have succeeded as many false teachers don’t talk about sin or repentance anymore but only money or riches.

A true prophet or teacher of God will always preach the sound doctrine of repentance because Jesus commands all people to repent or they will likewise perish if they don’t do so (Luke 13:5).

6. Creates Strive And Division.

False teachings and false teachers will create strife and division among believers. There are many examples in the New Testament that prove this fact.

For example, there were legalistic Jews who taught that believers must be circumcised and observe Jewish laws like keeping the Sabbath, eating kosher food, etc. but Paul categorically rejected them as false teachers (Gal 2:3-5).

1 Corinthians 1:10 tells us that we must all agree on what we say as Christian and the division and strife must not even be named among us but must be united with one purpose and one mind which is lacking in many churches today, sadly.

7. Full Of Opinions Of Men.

False doctrines will lack the truth of God’s word, will be full of opinions of men and not that of the bible, and are usually carnal in nature.

Jesus Christ warns about listening to the doctrines of men in Mark 7:7 which are mere opinions and commandments of men that usually bring bondage to the unsuspecting hearer of them.

There are many such false doctrines and destructive heresies in the church today that have no truth of God’s word in them that have enslaved many church members who listen to them and have forgotten the gospel of liberty the bible teaches.

8. Promotes Sin.

Another sign that will show you the doctrine or teaching you may be hearing from any teacher or pastor on the church pulpit is false is that it will promote sin rather than condemn it.

Many modern false teachers today are teaching false teaching and false doctrines that aren’t even in God’s word that are promoting sin which is why all moral pervasions such as homosexuality and lesbianism are condoned even in the church today.

This is why 2 Peter 2:2-4 warns of such false teachers and sadly reveals that many unsuspecting deceived followers will follow the pernicious ways of such false teachers who deny and suppress the truth they speak evil of.

9. Doesn’t Promote Holiness.

Holiness and righteousness are very important in the lives of all true believers in Christ as they are the only things that will make one go to heaven as, without them, you won’t see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).

If you don’t practice a life of holiness, then your Christian faith is worthless and sadly, many false teachings today by false teachers don’t promote holiness but encourage you to fulfill the sinful desires of the flesh.

Any false teaching or doctrine that will come from the mouth of a false teacher or false apostle will never promote holiness because they are not holy in the first place.

10. Full Of Vain Religion.

Last but not least, false teachings and false doctrines are usually religious in nature but are void of the true religion that is undefiled and unspotted from this present evil world James 1:27 talks.

The vain religion that false doctrines promote are usually mere corrupt traditions and commandments of men that can be seen in both the Old Testament in the times of Isaiah and the New Testament among the scribes and the Pharisees during Jesus’ time.

Very often, the religion false doctrines promote is vain or empty and can’t give you salvation, free you from the bondage of sin, or eternal life as religion isn’t what saves one from sin but a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ is what does.

Conclusion.

The above 10 signs of false doctrines are just one of many out there you need to be aware of and I hope by reading this post, you won’t be deceived by false doctrines which are now commonplace today. Stay blessed and don’t forget to share with others.

Sharing is caring.

      • None of the pegan holidays have nothing to do with Jesus either, nor going to church on sunday (sun worship gods day)..false doctrine taught, and the list goes on and on. This is why I left sunday church years ago.
Jesus did not have a religion in the Bible either. Man made, false lies and doctrine.
Do research on all of this.
