11 Consequences Of Sin (To Help Avoid Sin All Costs.)

Today in this post, you will discover the 11 major consequences of sin that will give you the reason why you must avoid sin in your life at all costs.

Sin has many consequences on the life of a person who doesn’t repent and forsake them but continues in their willful sinful lifestyle.

By the end of this article, you will have known all the 11 consequences of sin and why sin must not have any room in your life if you love your soul.

11 Major Consequences Of Sin.

Here are the 11 major consequences of sin that sin brings on a life of a person who practices then and has pleasure in sin.

  • Makes You Worthless.
  • Loss Of God’s Presence.
  • Leads To Captivity.
  • Sin Leads To Death.
  • Sin Leads To Eternal Damnation.
  • Eternal Separation From God.
  • Sin Makes You An Enemy Of God.
  • Sin Brings Curses.
  • Sin Brings Diseases.
  • Sin Leads To Eternal Destruction.
  • Sin Brings Misery.

1. Makes You Worthless.

One of the major consequences of sin is that sin makes you feel worthless as a human being which is why when you do bad things, you feel bad about yourself and hate yourself.

This is because sin has nothing good to offer to anyone who practices it as Satan, the author of it all wants you to feel worthless about yourself which is why he tempts you with various sins so that you can fall into them.

No wonder John 10:10 states that the thief, Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy and that is why the devil wants you to sin so that your self-worth and value can be ruined.

So, if you don’t want to destroy the infinite value and worth God has given so, stay away from sin as far as possible if you love your soul, dear.

2. Loss Of God’s Presence.

Sin also leads to the loss of God’s presence in one’s life because God can’t dwell in the presence of sin as He’s holy and righteous (Habakkuk 1:13).

No wonder when Adam and Eve sinned by eating the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden where original sin came from, God drove them out of Eden.

This is when a Christian sins, the loss of God’s presence is felt immediately but the good news is that you can still restore that presence of the Lord in your Christian life if you have sinned by repenting and vowing never to go back to sin.

And if you are a sinner who wants to be in fellowship with God, all you need to do is repent and accept Jesus Christ into your life and God’s presence you come into your life when you receive salvation.

3. Leads To Captivity.

Captivity is one of the major horrific consequences of sin that sin brings upon a sinner and no wonder the bible says that a person who sins is a slave of sin.

This is why when you want to stop sinning, it’s hard to do so because sin enslaves you and makes you a slave of Satan who wants you to be his captive and suffer under his captivity until he finally manages to take you to hellfire.

No wonder in the old testament the children of Israel always went into captivity when they sinned against God by disobeying His commandments.

But the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is available today if you want to be set free from the captivity and guilt that sin brings upon a sinner, all you need to do to be set free from the captivity and guilt of sin is true repentance.

4. Sin Leads To Death.

Sin also brings eternal death on a sinner who doesn’t repent and forsake their sins and this death can either be physical or spiritual. Death is an inherent nature of sin.

Eternal death here refers to spiritual death and eternal separation from God in the lake of fire which is also known as the second death in Revelations 21:8.

The bible in Ezekiel 18:20 says that a soul that sins shall surely die referring to both physical and spiritual death. Sin is the reason why many young people nowadays are dying too young and it’s no surprise as sin is very rampant among our young people in our generation today.

So, if you don’t want death the wages of sin bring as stated in Romans 6:23, you need to avoid it at all costs if you want to have eternal life because there is no life in sin but just death and eternal damnation in hellfire.

5. Sin Leads To Eternal Damnation.

Eternal damnation is one of the horrific consequences that sin brings upon an unrepentant sinner who never repented and obtained forgiveness of their sin while there were on earth.

This is the reason why you must avoid evil at all costs because there is nothing good that comes out of practicing evil that just attracts God’s judgment and wrath.

Sadly, most people are deceived into thinking that sin is enjoyable and pleasurable not knowing that in doing so, they are damning their precious eternal souls into hellfire in the process.

If you don’t want to go to hellfire and spend eternity with the devil and his angels, now is the time to receive salvation, mercy, and God’s forgiveness of your sins by repenting as tomorrow may be too late. Don’t delay your salvation.

6. Eternal Separation From God.

Sin also brings eternal separation from God in eternity when a sinner dies in their sins which is the worst thing that will ever happen to any human being.

Being eternally separated from God for all eternity because of sin isn’t worth it as the pleasures of sin only last for a season.

Even in this lifetime, sin separates you from God which is why God, can’t hear the prayer of sinners except that of repentance (Isaiah 59:1,2).

So, avoid sin at all costs if you want to spend eternity with God in heaven full of endless joy and not in hellfire with the devil and his angels that is just full of eternal misery, suffering, and regrets.

7. Sin Makes You An Enemy Of God.

Since God hates all manner of evil or sin, it, therefore, follows that if you do evil, you make yourself an enemy of God and a friend of Satan who wants nothing but eternal ruin in hellfire.

And being an enemy of God isn’t a cool thing, dear, and the worst position you can find yourself in as a sinner because if you are an enemy of the Lord, you will be destroyed together with the devil without mercy in hellfire if you don’t repent of your sins.

This is one of the reasons why the prayers of sinners cannot be answered except if there is that of repentance which reconciles a sinner back to God.

Don’t let sin be the reason why your relationship with God is severed as sin brings nothing but death but God will give you abundant life that is filled with joy. So, why be an enemy with God who only wants what’s best for your life?

8. Sin Brings Curses.

Curses are among the natural consequences of sin on one’s life or a nation and God’s word says that if you embrace sin in your life, you will attract curses in your life.

And these curses can be in the form of diseases, lack of financial breath through in your life, calamities, misfortunes, and much more.

This can be seen in the children of Israel and the curses the Lord brought upon them when they sinned against Him. No wonder God warned the Israelites in Deuteronomy 30:7 that curses of their enemies will be upon them if they sin.

So, if you want to have a blessed life, flee all forms of evil, and only then will you attract the blessings of the Lord in your life sin may be withholding you from having.

9. Sin Brings Diseases.

All the major diseases we see around the world are a direct consequence of sin and evil and the Lord says that where sin is, diseases and illnesses will be there, too.

This is why we have so many incurable STDs today because sexual immorality in our generation we live in is very rampant and the punishment for these evil acts people do are diseases.

And if you don’t want your life to be stricken with seemingly incurable diseases, stay away from sin as far as possible.

No wonder the Lord warned the Israelites that if the sinner against Him, all the diseases of the Egyptians will be upon them in Exodus 15:26, and if they didn’t sin, none of those diseases of the Egyptians would touch or get near them.

10. Sin Leads To Eternal Destruction.

In Roman 6:23, we are told that sin brings death while God’s love gift is eternal life found through Jesus Christ, the author, and finisher of our salvation.

There is nothing good sin has to offer to anyone who practices it. All it brings upon the soul is eternal death, ruin, and misery in hellfire where evil people will spend the rest of their eternity.

Jesus says in Matthews 7:13.14, that the way of sin which is broad leads to destruction, and many people are on this path while the narrow way of righteousness leads to life and everlasting joy in heaven with God.

So, my question to you before you leave is which way are on? The way of destruction that sin brings or the way of life that righteousness brings. Only you can decide which path you want to take to decide your eternal destiny.

11. Sin Brings Misery.

Misery both in this world and in the world to come in eternity is among the consequences that sin brings upon people who love their sin and evil ways and are unwilling to repent of them.

No wonder misery in this world will not end until Christ returns and set everything in order because there is so much sin and evil in this world we live in.

It’s just the nature of sin to bring misery and death wherever it finds its self in and if you die in your sins, eternal misery with no end awaits you when you close your eyes in death.

And if you love your soul, you certainly don’t want to spend your eternity in hellfire where your misery and suffering will have no end.

  1. Professed to be a believer all my life but lived in sin. I have read this article and I fear that GOD may no longer save me as tomorrow has past and I may have to live the remainder of my life before I am sent to hell for my disobedience. Please keep me in prayer as I have lost all hope that I am worthy to be saved.

    • And he said, “There was a man who had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.’ And he divided his property between them. Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living. And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.

“But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’ And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.
