Does God Love You No Matter What? [With Illustrations].

The question, “does God love you no matter what,” is the question that most people ask and this is what this post will try to answer today.

We all know as we see from the bible that God is love, which is why He sent His dear Son, Jesus Christ to die for our sins even if we were not worthy of His unconditional love so that we can have salvation and eternal life.

With that said, let’s answer our today’s question on,” does God love you no matter what,” and what God’s love is and is not with references to bible verses in both the old testament and the new testament.

Does God Love You Unconditionally?

Yes, God loves you unconditionally with His unconditional love, which knows no bounds and implies God loves you no matter what but that doesn’t mean that He approves of your sinful lifestyle.

Remember, God does not love you because you are perfect. He loves you because He is perfect. God’s love is not based on your performance, but His own character.

God’s love for us is not a matter of what we do or don’t do, but rather how we respond to His grace and how we respond to His Word as His love is everlasting (Jeremiah 31:3).

You are loved by God loved not because of what you do or who you are or where e you live or how much money you have. You are loved because God loves you, and God’s love means that He is with you always.

This is the message of Scripture, and this is the message of our Lord Jesus Christ. God loves us no matter what we do, who we are, where we live, or how much money we have.

However, you need to understand just because God loves you unconditionally, doesn’t mean that He approves of your sin and this is where most people miss it.

Of course, God loves you even if you do bad things that is why He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for you so that you no longer live in sin and go to hell (Romans 5:6).

Romans 5:8 tells us that God loved us while we were yet sinners and that He sent His Son to die for our sins so that we can have salvation and be saved from sin and the terrible consequences it brings upon a sinner.

That, my friend, is what true love is all about. Only God’s unfailing love made that possible unlike human love, which will always fail you due to its selfish nature.

Does God Love Everyone?

Of course, God loves everyone, which is why He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins even if God knew that we might not love Him back, or reject His love as most people have done.

The evidence of God loving everyone can be seen in the unconditional love He shows to all of us including people who do evil, which is why He allows evil people also to have a taste of His goodness.

Psalms 145:9 tells us that the Lord is good to all and his mercies are all over His works and extend to everyone. If God didn’t love everyone unconditionally, He wouldn’t allow evil people to exist and would exterminate them on the spot.

However, due to His unconditional love, 2 Peter 3:9 tells us that God is patient and long-suffering and that He doesn’t want any to perish but all to come to repentance which is why He allows the wicked to live longer to give them ample opportunity to repent.

God loves all people with perfect love, but not everyone is aware of his love for them. The love of God for every person is unconditional and limitless. There are no exceptions to this love.

A person may seem as if he or she is unworthy of God’s love because of past sins or imperfections, but that does not make him or her any less valuable to God than anyone else.

Even those who have never known Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are still loved by God because they were created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).

God’s love is so great that it can forgive even the most serious transgressions against Him humans commit like murder and adultery because he has been merciful enough to forgive us when we sin (Hebrews 9:22-23).

God’s Love Vs Human Love.

God’s love for us is unconditional. It is eternal and unending. Because He knows our hearts and understands our pain, He desires to save us from ourselves and sin (1 John 4:19).

On the other hand, human love is always conditional with hidden selfish motives which is why no human being on this earth can truly love you the way God loves you.

This is because of the fallen nature we have as humans that makes us naturally selfish and self-centered which explains why we only claim to love others if they have something to benefit us in some way.

When God created us in His image, He knew that we eventually would disobey Him and sin against Him (Genesis 6:5; Exodus 20:5). But even when we do something wrong, God still loves us.

The Bible says God showed his great love toward us by sending Christ Jesus to die for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8). This shows how much God loves us.

If you are still a sinner, the best way you can respond to His love is by giving your life to Him and turning away from your sinful lifestyle, and not rejecting His love gift of salvation and eternal life by stubbornly continuing to live in sin.

The Bible also teaches that Jesus Christ died for our sins so that those who believe in Him will have eternal life with Him (John 3:16).

When we accept Jesus into our hearts as Lord and Savior, He becomes our personal Savior because he forgives our sins and gives us eternal life so that we can be with him in heaven when we die (John 14:6).

Human Love Is Always Self-Centred.

Very often, we seek to be loved by others and expect other people to give us the love only God can give us. You need to understand that, no human will ever love you like God.

This is because we as humans are only willing to love other people if they are benefitting us in some way or meeting our selfish needs.

You also need to realize that we as humans are unable to produce the selfless agape love 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 talks about which is kind, patient, long-suffering, not self-seeking, etc.

One of the common attributes of human love is that it’s self-seeking and seeks only its own interests above the interests of others while God’s agape love seeks to serve and puts the needs of others above one’s own.

Also, unlike human love God’s love isn’t based on emotions and feelings because God loves not because of what we do to Him or are to Him but loves us because He’s love and it’s His nature to do so as 1 John 4:16 tells us in the new testament.

Compare this to human love, you will begin to understand that sinful fallen humans can only love you if you have something to benefit them or are easy to love.

Human love is the reason why many relationships and marriages fail as everyone is all about themselves and what they can get from the other person rather than what they can give.

To sum it up, human love is all about who you are to me and what I can get from you and isn’t sacrificial. On the other hand, God’s unfailing love that is selfless is all about how I can serve you and is sacrificial.

Now that you know the difference between God’s love and human love, stop demanding love from other people that only God can give you and commit yourself to love others even if they don’t deserve the love or grace you show them.

How To Respond To God’s Love?

The best way you can respond to God’s everlasting divine love is by accepting His Son, Jesus Christ in your life as your personal Lord and savior so that you can obtain forgiveness of your sins through His divine grace and mercy.

Accepting Jesus Christ into your life so that you can have everlasting life is the greatest decision you will ever make in this lifetime if you believe in Him wholeheartedly (John 6:47).

Jesus Christ says in John 6:37 that as His Heavenly Father has given Him that anyone who comes to Him, He won’t cast away even if you are a chief sinner who has committed great sins you are ashamed of.

You need to remember that there is no greater love than God’s divine love, which knows no bounds. So, if you reject God’s love by rejecting His son, you are missing out and not doing yourself any good.

Don’t be like most people who choose to reject God’s love gift of eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ by continuing to live in willful sin and choose their evil ways rather than God’s ways.

If you reject God’s love now, you will bitterly regret it later but by then, it will be too late as you will be cast in hellfire prepared for the devil and his angel if you die without Christ in your life (Matthews 25:41).

So, I encourage you to give your life to Jesus Christ if you haven’t done so before it’s too late by repenting and forsaking your sins and God will gladly receive you. For more on this, kindly check out the article on how to be saved below.

I promise, if you do that, you won’t regret it and it is a decision will be eternally grateful you made for all eternity when you cross to the other side.
