This post will show you how to live a godly life in this present evil world of sin that will help you be ready for heaven when Christ comes to collect His own.

Many people wonder whether it’s possible to live godly in this world that is full of sin everywhere you go and that’s what this post will help you find out.

If you are struggling to live a holy life free from sin, then this post on how to live a godly life that is above sin is what you need right now to help you do just that. Let’s get started.

What Is A Godly Life?

A godly life is simply a life that is centered on godly principles of holiness and righteousness. It’s simple a Christian life that reflects God’s values and attributes.

Someone who lives a godly life lives a holy life that is free from worldly lusts that person what delivered from when the person was still a sinner.

Also, a godly life is the one that reflects God’s glory and God’s grace in one’s life and it’s this grace that empowers a godly person to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts (Titus 2:11).

Eternal life through faith in the death and resurrection of Christ also characterizes a godly life because, without eternal life, you can’t say you are living a godly life at all.

What Does It Mean To Live A Godly Life?

Living a godly life in this present evil world simply means living a holy life that is in accordance with God’s word as a true believer who is truly saved from sin.

It also means living a life full of godliness and righteousness that brings and attracts God’s glory in your life. A godly man or godly woman will always aspire to glorify God in whatever they do instead of themselves.

By embracing godly living in your life, you accept God’s way of how to live your life rather than following your evil desires of the flesh that just lead to destruction in hellfire.

You no longer walk after the flesh but after the Spirit of your heavenly Father that now help you to follow after righteousness and not evil (Galatians 5:16-18).

What Makes A Person Godly?

The imputed righteousness of God through our Lord Jesus Christ is what makes a person godly. It’s this imputed righteousness of God that makes a person live a holy life.

And this imputed righteousness and holiness of Christ are made available to anyone who truly repents of their sins at salvation when they become truly saved.

Secondly, the new nature of Christ a godly person inherits at salvation that helps a person live godly in this evil world is what makes a person godly and live a life free from the lust of the flesh that characterizes the lives of ungodly people.

Also, shunning sin and choosing to follow after righteousness makes one godly as you can’t claim to be godly if the love of sin is still present in your life, a problem most so-called Christians of these days have.

What Is A Godly Person?

A godly person is simply someone who lives a godly life free from sin and follows after godliness and holiness of which without, no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).

Secondly, a godly person isn’t a hypocrite but a true believer saved by the divine power of God and on their way to heaven by accepting God’s gift of eternal life by accepting Christ in their lives.

Someone godly also lives a life that is in total obedience to God’s word because a godly person loves God and in doing so, that person endeavors to keep God’s commandments.

You can’t say you are a godly man or godly woman if you are living a life that isn’t in total obedience or submission to God’s word. Otherwise, you are just lying to yourself, dear.

7 Things To Do To Live A Godly Life.

Here are the things you must do if you aspire to live a godly life that will bring glory to God and ultimately help you to be with your heavenly Father in heaven when you close your eyes in death.

1. True Repentance.

If you want to live godly in this present evil world, you must first truly repent of your sins and ask Jesus Christ to cleanse and forgive all your sins.

Without that, you won’t be able to live a godly life that will help live above sin and lack of true repentance is the reason why most people can’t live holy lives that are above sin.

So if you mean it in your heart that you want to live godly, you must pray a genuine prayer of repentance so that your sins may be blotted out (Acts 3:19).

Remember, for true repentance to occur, you must genuinely be sorry for your sins and confess them and not cover them because if you cover your sins and are not willing to forsake them, you won’t obtain mercy dear (Proverbs 28:13).

2. Ask For God’s Grace To Deny Ungodliness.

In Titus 2:11, we are told that God’s grace that brings salvation has appeared to all men and it’s this grace that teaches every godly person to deny all forms of ungodliness and worldly lusts so that that person can live soberly and righteously in this present evil world.

Yes, dear, it’s possible to live a holy life that is free from your former sinful and evil desires of the flesh that causes people to sin in the first place.

All you need to do is ask for the grace of the Lord to help you deny the lust of the flesh prominent in many people’s lives including many so-called Christians and realize that you can’t do this by yourself.

If you don’t have this grace in your life to help you deny all forms of ungodliness in this evil world, you won’t be able to live a holy life that pleases the Lord.

3. Shun Worldliness.

To live a holy life pleasing to God, you must deny worldliness that is present even among many so-called Christians. You can’t be worldly and godly at the same time. It doesn’t work that way, dear.

Remember, you can’t serve two masters and if worldliness and the love of the world are in you, then truly the love of your heavenly Father is not in you at all (1 John 2:15-17).

A godly person shuns all forms of worldliness be it fashion, entrainments, amusements, or dressing styles because as true believers, we are called to live lives that are separate from the world.

So, live worldliness behind, no matter how attractive and appealing it is if you want to live a life of holiness that will eventually help you to make it for heaven when you cross over to eternity.

4. Abstain From All Appearances Of Evil.

The bible in 2 Thessalonians 5:22 admonishes precious saints in the Lord to abstain from all appearances of evil which are the first thing that corrupt the mind.

These appearances of evil can be anything that tempts you to sin such as films or T.V shows that promote sexual immorality and there are a lot of such films and T.V shows these days and as a Christian, you need to guard your eyes against such corrupt T.V shows let ye be defiled.

And these dirty shows sow seeds of lust and immoral thinking in your mind and that is why many people these days are addicted to pornography because they don’t abstain from these evil appearances on television that appease their sinful flesh.

You need to be disciplined and be grace-filled in your Christian life to be able to abstain from these evil vices that have morally corrupted many people which are everywhere you go, dear saint of God.

5. Follow After Righteousness.

Following after righteousness means pursuing a godly life by abstaining from fleshly lusts that war against your soul responsible for making you want to sin in the first place (2 Timothy 2:22).

If you want to live a life that is free from sin and evil, you need to have a desire to follow after righteousness and this is what a godly person does.

But if you have no desire to live a holy life but are interested to walk after the sinful desires of your flesh such as sexual immorality present in most youths and so-called Christians, you won’t be able to live righteously.

Sadly, most people say they want to live godly but aren’t willing to live a holy life by forsaking their evil ways and sinful lifestyles but this must not be you. Aspire to live riotously even when everyone around you isn’t as Christianity and salvation is strictly personal, dear.

6. Have Quiet Time.

Quiet time is simply a solitary moment early in the morning you have with the Lord. It’s the time and chance you get to talk with the Lord on a personal and intimate level without any distractions.

Having quiet time is crucial in our everyday lives as Christians as it helps us prepare for the day ahead that is rigged with all manner of temptations from the enemy.

Remember, every day you wake up in the morning, Satan is patiently waiting for you with his various temptations to make you fall into sin. But if you have quiet time by reading your bible, it makes you fully prepared to withstand the wiles of the devil.

The reason why most Christians fall into temptations is that most of them don’t even have regular quiet time with the Lord to prepare them for the day. If you are such a person, start having quiet time today as it will help you not fall into temptations.

7. Be Ready To Suffer Persecution.

It’s just a matter of fact that if you desire to live a godly life in this wicked world, you will certainly suffer persecution because this world is ruled by the prince of darkness, Satan who hates holiness.

Paul in 2 Timothy 3:12 assures every person aspiring to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted and there are no questions about that.

But don’t let persecution from evil people and sinners hinder you from following after righteousness as you will be greatly rewarded with a crown of righteousness if you don’t give up amidst persecutions.

Remember, Christ was persecuted too though He lived righteously and since a servant isn’t greater than his master, if they persecuted Christ, they will certain persecute you too, dear but be of good cheer.

  1. hello dear friend,
I feel God is pressing it upon my heart to tell you that you may not know you are judging others. Your blogs are ment to help ppl live a Godly life and give sound advice according to God’s word. with that being said you are offensive and are being judgement when you say so calld Christians. It is not your place to say who is and who isn’t a Christian or God’s child. That is between them and God who is the Only judge and it even says that in his word. By you saying so called Christians you are pushing ppl away from wanting to read your blog or take your advice as how to live a Godly life. So my dear friend give advice but leave out the SO CALLED CHRISTIAN part and the JUDGING you are actually truly hurting and sinning against yourself and others. maybe read your own blog and God will point it out to you. Good luck and I pray God will show you the way. pray and ask God to give you the words he wants you to say and the advice he wants you to give.

    sincerely katie

  2. I read your article with a sincere heart. I have fully accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior! I do not want to sin. Your words such as COMPLETE AND TOTAL obedience are something we do “have’ to have the Holy Spirit working in us in order to have this desire. And I am not saying this as a license to sin. As I read your article, I felt condemnation and judgement, with a bit of sarcasm. The dear on the end of your one comment seemed to talk down to your readers.
This does not “feel” like the love Jesus came to offer. I pray you may revise the delivery of your message. I am not saying to “water down The Word.” Just something to consider.
    Very sincerely,
    Marsha

    • Sometimes, you have to tell the raw truth regardless of whether it will offend people or not and if God’s word offends you, dear, it clearly shows you are not God’s child at all because if you are His child, His word won’t be offensive to you at all as the Lord chastens and corrects those He loves sometimes with strong words. You also need to understand that God’s word won’t change to suit your feelings. You either take it or leave it. Anyway, thanks for checking in and taking your time to read my post and God bless.
