Am I really saved? 11 Ways To Surely Know(+ Video Sermon)

Am I saved? Am I really saved? These are common questions many people ask concerning their salvation to know if they are really saved and on their way to heaven instead of hell.

And it’s good to ask these questions concerning your salvation as it’s life and death because if you are wrong on this one once, there is no turning back in eternity.

Many people struggle with assurance of their salvation. Here’s what the Bible teaches about the assurance of salvation that brings eternal life and the signs it shows. Let’s dive in.

11 Ways To Know That You Are Truly Saved.

Here are the 11 ways that will help you know if you are genuinely saved and give you the assurance of salvation you need.

  • No Condemnation In Christ.
  • Bear Fruits Of Repentance.
  • New Desire To Follow After Righteousness.
  • God’s Spirit Now Bears Witness With You.
  • New Life In Christ.
  • Change In Character.
  • Your Flesh Will Be Crucified.
  • You Will Love The Truth.
  • You, Will, Be Filled With God’s Love.
  • Want The Fellowship With Fellow Saints In Christ.
  • You Will Love God’s Word.

1. No Condemnation In Christ.

If you are truly saved, you will now have no condemnation and guilt that sin brings to the sinner for violating God’s holy laws of righteousness.

You see, dear, when you are a sinner still living in sin and not yet repented of your sins, there will be that guilt and condemnation you will have because God has given you a conscience that tells you whether what you are doing is right or wrong.

But when you become genuinely born again by accepting Jesus Christ in your heart, this condemnation and guilt that sin brings to all sinners will be gone and you will now be at peace and your conscience will no longer trouble you (Romans 8:1).

This will be so because you are now a new creation in Christ and all the old things are passed away including the past sinful life you have chosen to leave behind to follow after righteousness. (2 Corinthians 5:17).

If you are still not sure whether you are saved or not even after repenting, checkup yourself maybe there could be some hidden sins you are still clinging on to in your heart that are making your conscience condemn you for it.

2. Bear Fruits Of Repentance.

Another way you will know that you are saved for sure is that you are going to produce fruits of repentance that every true believer saved by God’s grace through faith produces.

In Matthews 3:8, John the Baptist told the Pharisees and Sadducees to produce fruits of repentance instead of just claiming that they are Abraham’s children, yet filled with sin and all manner of hypocrisy the Pharisees were known of.

It’s not enough to just say that you are born again but what you must be asking yourself, dear is whether you are producing fruits worthy of repentance to support your claim of being saved.

If you claim to be saved and have no fruits of repentance to show off in your life, then you are a false convert because all true converts in Christ Jesus will bear the fruits of repentance.

This is because genuine salvation brings a changed nature in you that will make you hate your former sinful lifestyle and now start loving and following after righteousness as you are now walking after the Spirit and not after your former lusts (1 Peter 1:14).

3. New Desire To Follow After Righteousness.

If you are truly saved through the begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ by accepting Him fully in your heart, you will have a new desire to follow after righteousness and not your former sins because He who has called you is righteous.

You can’t say you are genuinely saved without this important trait every truly born-again Christian has because if you become saved, you will now want to follow after righteousness (1 Timothy 6:11).

This is because if you become genuinely saved through the saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, you will now have a new nature of Christ that will now hate sin and love righteousness instead.

Since Jesus is holy and righteousness it also follows that if you are His disciple, you will also have this holy character of Christ in your that get imputed in you at salvation after genuine repentance.

If you say you are saved but have no desire to live a holy life, then, you are not truly saved yet and are just lying to yourself because sin and holiness cannot mix and you can’t serve two masters.

4. God’s Spirit Now Bears Witness With You.

In Romans 8:16, Paul the apostle of Christ says that God’s Spirit will bear witness and confirm that you are truly His Child on his or her way to heaven.

This is one of the most important signs you will surely know that you are saved by having this inner confirmation in your heart that God is bearing witness with you that you are His dear child called unto holiness (1 Thessalonians 4:7,8).

But if you are a false convert and are still toiling with your sins, this confirmation from God will simply not be there to verify that you are His child.

So, you may claim to be saved but if this witness by God’s Spirit to confirm that you are His child is missing, then you are certainly not saved yet for sure and your Christian faith is in vain.

But the good news is that you can be saved today by just truly believing in Jesus Christ for your eternal salvation by accepting Him into your life and deciding that you will no longer live a sinful lifestyle following after holiness instead.

5. New Life In Christ.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17, Paul says that if any man is in Christ, he or she becomes a new creation and that the old things are passed away and all thing has become new.

This implies that if you are in Christ, you will now have a new life which will be due to the new nature and a new heart God through His son Jesus Christ will give you at salvation.

All true believers that are on their way to heaven will have this new life characterized by holiness and purity of heart and that is why Paul said that if anyone is in Christ is a new creature.

A new creature in the sense that you now have a new life and a new nature in you that reflects Christ’s attributes in you that makes you want to live godly in this present evil world.

Implying that you now no longer live according to your old sinful self and former lusts of the flesh that made love to sin in the first place.

6. Change In Character.

Another way that you will know that you are a true Christian, you will show a definite change in character that every God’s child shows.

In Ezekiel 36:26, the Lord promises that He will give us a new heart and a new spirit within us and remove a stony heart to replace it with a heart of flesh that will make us love Him.

It’s this new heart and new spirit a repentant sinner obtains at salvation after truly repenting of his or her sin that makes you have this change in character.

You can’t have a changed character if your heart hasn’t been worked on by God because the state of your heart is what determines your true character (Matthew 12:35).

But if you are become saved, you will now have this new godly character of Christ shining in your life that makes you want to live a holy life and want nothing to do with your former sinful lifestyle.

7. Your Flesh Will Be Crucified.

Paul in Galatians 5:24 says that all those who are truly saved from their sins and are now in Christ will have their old sinful flesh that causes someone to sin in the first place crucified along with its evil passions and desires.

This means that since your flesh is crucified, you will no longer walk according to your fleshly desires but you will now walk after the Spirit of Christ that leads to righteousness.

The flesh has natural sinful desires we are all born with that make us desire to sin and it’s these desires that need to be crucified in Christ and be replaced with a new desire to follow after righteousness.

You can’t say you are a genuine believer in Christ Jesus if your flesh isn’t crucified because if your flesh isn’t crucified yet, you will surely obey its sinful desires and not God’s word telling you to deny your flesh.

So, if you have real salvation through Christ’s death and are a genuine believer, you will no longer desire your past sins because your old sinful flesh and its evil passions and desires are crucified and nailed on the cross of Jesus Christ.

8. You Will Love The Truth.

If you are a true Christian, you will love the truth and hate falsehood that is now rampant in a lot of false churches these days which is unfortunate indeed.

We live in a woke generation that hates the truth. Nowadays, if you try to tell someone the truth, they will falsely label you as an intolerant person who is judgmental towards others as the Bible predicted in 2 Timothy 4:3.

Many people who claim to be Christians don’t want to hear the undiluted truth of God’s word but only what they want to hear and what will make them feel good and comfortable in their sinful lifestyles.

But if you are a true believer, all the false teachings you once loved from false teachers will no longer be appealing to you even if they feel good and tingling to your sinful flesh.

If you hate the truth of God’s word but claim to be a true Christian, you are a liar and the truth is not in you and when Jesus comes to take His own, you will be left behind because only true believers will finally make it for heaven on the final day.

9. You Will Be Filled With God’s Love.

God’s love will reign supreme in your life if you are truly saved. Naturally, as human beings, we are all selfish and full of ourselves by nature that makes us impossible to truly love others selfless the way God expects us to do (John 15:13).

Love to a human being simply means who you are to them and what they can get t from you, period. A lot of people claim to love you not because they do but it’s because of what they can benefit from you.

Once that is gone, you then now see the true colors of these people and this is why a lot of relationships and marriages don’t last these days because everyone is all about themselves and what you can benefit them.

But if God’s agape love comes into your life at salvation, you will have this new love you never once had or experienced before that will make you selflessly love others with the way Christ first loved you without any selfish motives.

Human love will always be selfish and this is why without God you can’t know what true love is. 2 Corinthians 13:4-7 sums up what true love is and means.

10. Want The Fellowship With Fellow Saints In Christ.

Paul in Hebrews 10:25 encourages all believers not to forsake the assembling of one another as the manner of some is because there is great benefit in fellowshipping with your fellow believer in Christ.

To begin with, having fellowship with your fellow believers in Christ gives you a strong support system you can go to if you are struggling in one way or the other and makes you less prone to Satan’s attacks compared to when you are alone.

When you fellowship with other saints in the Lord, you feel a sense of togetherness and belonging to one royal family of God that is filled with brotherly love and affection from each other that is pure coming straight from God.

And if you become saved, you will have this burning desire in your heart to fellowship with your fellow saints in Christ rather than fellowshipping with your former sinful friends who are just there to help you to go to hell.

11. You Will Love God’s Word.

God’s word is what brings everlasting life to someone who believes and lives by it. If you become a child of your heavenly Father, you will love His word and it won’t be offensive to you anymore (1 John 5:3).

Many people hate the word of the Lord that saves sinful men from hell and from eternal separation from God that sin brings to mankind.

They hate His word because it convicts them of their sinful lifestyles and because such people are so in love with their sin, they will hate God’s word as it exposes their evil deeds (John 3:19).

But if you become saved, you will no longer hate His word but love it. It will become a sweet-smelling aroma for your soul that protects you from sin and helps you live a holy life.

It’s your sinful flesh that makes you hate God’s word that makes repentance and the forgiveness of sins possible because your natural sinful flesh hates what is holy and that is why our sinful flesh finds sin pleasant and enjoyable to do but sin leads to hellfire, unfortunately.

  1. Is this not who is truly born again to know you are saved according to Godhead:

Whosoever commits’ sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And you know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abides in him sins not: whosoever sins hath not seen him, neither known him. 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that commits’ sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother. (1 John 3:4-10)

Lord Jesus guarantees If we chose to “walk” in the Holy Spirit we will not sin, and then we are born again, and we will know the person the Holy Spirit who will not lead us into sin, to be saved correct?
