7 Signs Of A Surrendered Life [Fully Yielded To Christ]

There are many signs of a surrendered life that will show if a person has fully given their life to the Lord Jesus Christ to live for Him all the days of their life.

Surrendering to God’s will can be a hard thing to do. We like to feel in control of our own lives and sometimes we think we know what is best for us. But that is not the case.

Only God can truly know what our future holds and how we should live our lives. When you surrender your life to God, you are following His plan instead of your own.

A surrendered life is one where you find peace and joy. You don’t have to worry about making all the right decisions because you know that God will guide you.

Here are the seven signs of a surrendered life that will clearly show your life is fully surrendered to Jesus Christ if you claim to be His follower and a true believer.

What Is A Surrendered Life?

To live a surrendered life means letting go of our need to control the circumstances of our lives. It is to trust that God has a plan for each one of us and that His ways are far greater than our ways.

It is trusting that He knows what is best for us. When we surrender, we allow ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit and be used by God in whatever way He sees fit.

When we surrender to God, we must understand that He is not asking us to give up everything important to us. Rather, He asks us to give up our selfish desires.

To be able to surrender fully requires faith. It requires that we trust in God’s plan for our lives and believe that His will is the best path for us, even when it doesn’t seem like it at the time.

We must have faith that He will bless us and provide for all of our needs in ways far better than anything we could have ever imagined or planned for ourselves.

It is when we truly surrender ourselves to God that we experience true inner peace and joy in our lives. When we seek Him first, above all else, every other thing that matters in this world falls into place for us and all things work together for our good at the end (Romans 8:28).

7 Major Signs Of Surrender To Christ.

  • You No Longer Live For Yourself.
  • Self-Denial.
  • You Trust God Fully.
  • Willingness To Fully Obey God’s Word.
  • Fully Submit To God’s Will.
  • You Live For Christ Daily.
  • The Desire To Serve Others.

1. You No Longer Live For Yourself.

One of the signs that you have surrendered your life to God is that you will no longer live for yourself but the Lord Jesus Christ just as the apostle Paul tells us in Galatians 2:20 that he lives for Christ and not for himself no longer as he’s crucified in Him.

The apostle Paul in the New Testament is one of the greatest godly examples to all believers of how a person who claims to have surrendered their lives to Christ must live.

When Paul experienced genuine conversion in his life, he spent the rest of his life living it for Jesus Christ by preaching the gospel of salvation to many so that they don’t perish which is why he said everything he lost for Christ’s sake in Philippians 3:8 is gain.

However, if you have not surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus Christ yet, you will not even bother to live for Him. Rather you will just live for yourself busy fulfilling the sinful desires of your flesh all the day of your life.

Many people including some believers are not willing to lose everything for the sake of Christ because they are not living a life of surrender yet and there are still things in their lives they are not willing to fully surrender to the Lord, yet.

2. Self-Denial.

Another sign that will show you have fully surrendered your life to Jesus Christ is that you will fully deny yourself and take up your cross daily to follow Christ as He commands everyone who desires to come after Him in Luke 9:23

This implies that you will not live to please yourself. Instead, you will live your life in a way that pleases the Lord at the expense of pleasing yourself by denying yourself legitimate things for Christ’s sake that the people of the world love and are after.

Some of the things you may be required to deny yourself to follow Christ are, the world, your sinful lifestyle that pleases your sinful self, worldly pleasures, world comforts, etc. that make self have it easy.

Sadly, self-denial is a major challenge even among many Christians today as the love of self is simply too much in many people for them to fully deny it for the sake of Christ. Many are not willing to endure things that inconvenience the flesh for Christ’s sake.

But if you claim to be a true disciple or follower of Jesus Christ, self-denial is a must in your Christian life because if you don’t do that, then you can’t be Christ’s disciple (Luke 14:27).

3. You Trust God Fully.

If your life is fully surrendered to God, you will fully trust Him with all your heart and you will not lean on your own understanding as Proverbs 3:5,6 in the Old Testament.

Implying that you will trust the Lord with all your heart even when things are not certain and you will not lean and rely on your own wisdom to make important decisions in your life as you know your human wisdom can fail you.

One of the major reasons why some Christians don’t fully trust in the Lord is because they have not fully surrendered their lives to the Lord and prefer to rely on themselves rather than depend on the Lord.

Self-will is still active in such people, which hinders them from fully putting all their trust in God as they think they can do it in their own power without God’s help.

Moreover, if you fully surrender your life to the Lord, self-will will no longer be active in your life, and trusting the Lord wholeheartedly in everything in your life will be much easier even when you can’t light at the end of the tunnel, yet.

4. Willingness To Fully Obey God’s Word.

A believer who is living a life of total surrender will also willing to obey everything written in God’s word and won’t cherry-pick the things they are want to obey or not as is the habit of many Christians today who are fake, anyway.

You can’t claim that you have fully surrendered your life to God if you are only partially willing to obey His word while throwing away the other things, especially the things that are hard for the flesh to do.

Jesus Christ tells in John 14:15 that one of the signs that will show we are His true disciples who truly love Him is that we will keep His commandments. All of them and not some of them.

Partial obedience has no room in the life of a believer who’s fully surrendered to Christ because if you do that, then you are not a true disciple of Christ and sadly, this is the case with many Christians today who only want to obey God’s word if it suits them.

If you find it hard to fully obey God’s word, it’s a clear sign that there are some things in your life you are still holding on to that you haven’t yet fully surrendered to the Lord Jesus Christ that need to be surrendered, ASAP.

5. Fully Submit To God’s Will.

Full submission to God’s will is another sign that will show your life is fully surrendered to God even when your flesh feels uncomfortable obeying God’s will.

James 4:7 tells us that we must submit ourselves to God and resist Satan which natural is difficult due to our sinful self that always wants to do its own things and not what God commands in His word.

This is why you need to be fully cleansed of self if you are to fully submit to the will of the Lord, which is often against the flesh as the flesh is always opposed to the things of God (Romans 8:7).

But if you are cleansed of self you will fully surrender to God’s will and purpose for your life even when you don’t understand His will at times and your prayer as a believer must be that you obey and fully surrender to His will at all times even when it’s hard.

If submitting to God’s will is a challenge to you, it shows that you are not fully surrendering to God as full surrender also means being willing to obey God’s will even if your flesh and natural senses see no sense in obeying His will at the moment.

6. You Live For Christ Daily.

If you have fully given your life to Jesus Christ, you will live for Him and not for yourself and the world all the days of your life until your appointed time to be taken home comes when you close your eyes in death.

You will be like Paul in the New Testament who said in Philippians 1:21 who said that for him to live is Christ and to die is gain because of the eternal life he knew he had in Christ, as he knows when he dies, he will immediately be ushered into heaven.

On the other hand, if you have not yet surrendered your life fully to Christ, living for Christ will not make sense to you, as you will not see the benefit of doing so compared to living for this world and yourself.

Instead, you will find living for your selfish desires, ambitions, and the world more appealing to you as they serve your selfish desires of the flesh.

Many so-called Christians today are full of themselves and are not willing to live for Christ daily in their lives as they find it unattractive but if you are a true believer, you will live for Christ daily and not for yourself or the world, which will pass away, anyway.

7. The Desire To Serve Others.

Finally yet importantly, if you have fully surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, you will desire to serve others and not just yourself only in what you do (Romans 12:13).

Implying that you will try to live a selfless life that looks like Jesus because He is the example of surrender at its highest form and is the only way we can see how true surrender should look like in our lives.

Through His example to us as our Savior and Lord who came to serve and not be served (Mark 10:45) and to love us while we were still sinners, Jesus Christ showed us how we should live our lives, especially in this selfish world we live which is all about me.

The world today tells us to only focus on ourselves and live for ourselves but this is contrary to what God’s word teaches us which is to lay down our lives for others as Christ did.

But when you give your life to Christ, you will no longer live selfishly and think only about yourself but you will also have the desire to bless and serve others with what you have.

Conclusion.
