And these 13 scriptural attributes of salvation in this post will help you understand your eternal salvation in-depth and what makes it so special and worthy of all your attention.

13 Characteristics Of Salvation.

Here are the 13 characteristics of salvation that will help you understand why it’s the most important thing you can ever have in your life.

  • It’s A Free Gift.
  • Brings Eternal Life.
  • Brings Forgiveness Of Sins.
  • Restores Our Lost Fellowship With God.
  • Brings Reconciliation.

1. It’s A Free Gift

This is one of the most important characteristics of salvation that makes it so special as it’s obtained by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross.

Salvation cannot be earned by good works because our good works will never be enough and because it’s God’s grace through faith that saved and not works (Ephesians 2:8,9).

We have all fallen short of the glory of God and sinned (Romans 3:23) and the bible says that none is righteous or good due to the sinful nature we all have in us that we inherited from our first parents who fell from grace.

So, all you need to have salvation is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ with all your heart and you will be saved and not on your efforts and good deed that will never be enough.

2. Brings Eternal Life.

The fact that salvation brings eternal life is why it’s so precious and I think this is the most important attribute of salvation that makes it so priceless as it is.

Eternal life is what salvation is all about because eternal life is what will enable you to spend your eternity with Jesus Christ, the redeemed saints of all ages, and God in heaven (John 5:24).

This is the reason why you must treasure your salvation so much and not neglect this greatest God’s love gift He has made available to mankind through many neglects it which is sad indeed.

And this is why Christianity is different from all the other false religions around in they can’t give you the eternal life which is found in Jesus Christ only.

3. Brings Forgiveness Of Sins.

Salvation brings the forgiveness of one’s sins and their horrific consequences. It’s the only hope a sinner can be reconciled to God through justification by faith (Romans 5:1).

Since we are all sinners by birth deserving of hell, we all need forgiveness of our sins to be reconciled back to God which was made possible through the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Sin is just part of our human nature and since sin cannot be accepted in heaven, we all deserve to be punished but salvation makes it possible to escape this punishment because Christ to the penalty of sin on the cross.

So, all you need to be forgiven of your sins is repent and accept Jesus Christ into your heart today because tomorrow may be too late. Today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).

4. Restores Our Lost Fellowship With God.

Since salvation brings the forgiveness of sins upon all sinners, it, therefore, restores the lost fellowship between man and God which was as a result of sin (2 Corinthians 5:18-21).

As you may know, sin separates man from God which we can see right from the garden of Eden when Adam and Eve sinned by eating the forbidden fruit.

Since God is holy, He can’t allow sin anywhere close to Him and something was needed to be done to restore that lost precious fellowship between man and God.

And this is where salvation comes in as it brings the forgiveness of sins and once again restores that lost relationship man once had with God which is beautiful indeed.

5. Brings Reconciliation.

Reconciliation of man to God through Jesus Christ is also among the most important characteristics of salvation which makes it so special and priceless.

Since we are all sinners by birth, we are automatically enemies of God as sin makes you an enemy of God but when you become saved and become a truly born again Christian, you also become reconciled back to God.

And this is only made possible through the salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ as there is no other name apart from Him in which salvation and forgiveness of sins can be found (Acts 4:12).

Implying that you are no longer an enemy of God since you are now following after righteousness and have left your former sinful lifestyle with alienated you from God in the first place.

6. Brings A New Birth.

When you become a truly born again Christian, you receive a new birth at salvation which now makes want to follow after righteousness and live a life of holiness (2 Corinthian 5:17).

This simply means that the old sinful nature of your that caused you to sin is now done away with a replaced with the new nature of Christ that enables you to live a life of holiness and obedience to God’s word.

And this new birth in Christ is what makes any truly born again Christian live a life of holiness that brings glory to God and not to the sinful flesh.

If you don’t have this new birth in Christ, it means that you are not saved yet because if you are saved, you will certainly have this new birth in Christ, dear that will enable you to live godly with the help of God’s grace that will teach you to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts (Titus 2:11).

7. Makes One Live A Holy Life.

This is another important attribute of salvation as it enables a born-again believer to live a holy life that is free from sin that a true believer is saved from.

Living a holy life is paramount for one to make it for heaven because without holiness, no man will see the lord or enter heaven according to Hebrews 12:14 and salvation makes that a possibility.

Don’t listen to people why say you can’t live a holy life in this sinful world. They say so because they are not saved and experienced new birth in Christ through the renews of the Holy Spirit that renews and regenerates our inner spirit.

If you are not living a holy life but are still enjoying your sins, it simply means that you are not saved yet because saved people don’t live in their former sins as their lives are now filled with God’s holiness that makes them hate sin.

8. Brings Redemption.

Redemption is another characteristic of salvation that makes it precious and priceless as it saved us from the wrath to come.

Redemption from the consequences of sin is what salvation is all about. Without this important attribute, it wouldn’t be salvation in the first place.

And this is why Christ Jesus has to die on the cross so that He can redeem us from the consequences sin brings upon a sinner which is death eternal damnation in hellfire (Romans 6:23).

So, if you are not redeemed yet, there is still hope for you to be redeemed from your sins today before time is up when you die. All you need to do dear is to repent and forsake your sins by inviting Christ into your heart.

9. Incorruptible.

The incorruptible nature of salvation is also one of the most important attributes of salvation that makes it so valuable and priceless.

Being incorruptible and the eternal life it brings upon a truly repentant sinner is what makes salvation so special and unique.

By being incorruptible simply means that salvation doesn’t fade or degrade in value over time unlike the things of this world.

This is why you must cling to your salvation at all costs and not lose it for anything in this world because nothing in this world be it money or perishable material things can’t equal its value.

10. Regenerates Your Heart.

It’s just a matter of fact that when you become truly saved, your heart will also be regenerated to conform to God’s heart in character.

Implying that when you receive salvation, you will become a regenerated person due to the new heart you will receive at salvation which will make you want to follow after righteousness and not sin.

In Ezekiel 36:26, the Lord promises that He will give us a new heart and a new spirit and remove a stony heart of sin that makes us sin and rebel against God.

It’s this new heart of flesh the Lord promises to give is at salvation that makes us love God by living in obedience to His word. With this new heart, you will no longer love sin but hate, shun it, and love righteousness instead.

11. Only Comes By Grace Through Faith.

Another trait that makes salvation so special that is only comes by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and what He did for you on the cross.

It simply implies that a person can’t earn his or her salvation by any other means be it good works or trying to be a good person through their efforts other than by grace through faith.

Ephesians 2:8,9 wonderfully summarizes this important fact about salvation that it comes by grace through faith and not our good works lest we boast due to the sinful pride nature we all have by birth.

So, if you want to receive eternal salvation today, all you need is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ by faith and you shall be saved as simple as that (Romans 8:9).

12. Found Only In Jesus Christ.

This is what makes salvation unique and special in that it’s found only in Jesus Christ who is the way, the truth, and the life (John14:6).

The fact that salvation and eternal life can only be obtained through Christ Jesus makes this the foundation of the Christian faith of all true believers who have believed in His name.

No other person other than Jesus can grant you salvation and everlasting life because only Jesus was the one willing to die a gruesome death for our sins so that mankind can be reconciled back to God through Him.

And this important trait of salvation is what makes Jesus so different from all the false gurus and spiritual teachers of the false religions of this world which can’t save you from sin or grant you eternal life.

13. Makes You Heaven Ready.

Lastly, salvation through Jesus Christ is the reason why all those who have died in Christ will make it for heaven in the end when all is said and done.

No one will see God’s kingdom of holiness and righteousness without being saved and redeemed from their sins and their terrible consequences.

So, if you want to make it for heaven in the end, just ensure that you have genuine salvation in your life and follow after righteousness (Matthews 5:8).

But if you are not saved yet, you can be saved today by accepting Christ into your heart, and don’t postpone this important issue because you are never guaranteed a tomorrow.
