When we give our lives over to Christ, we are saying that we no longer want to control our lives and will allow God to be in control. This sounds easy enough, but in reality, it can be hard to shift our thinking from our desires to God’s desires.

The Bible says that Jesus Christ emptied Himself of His divine rights and took on human flesh so that He could live a perfect life without sin.

He then chose to die a criminal’s death on a cross so that all those who would believe in Him would receive eternal life. His sacrifice on the cross was an act of surrender because he gave up his life for us.

He didn’t deserve the life He lived here on earth, but He chose to surrender his free will over to God’s will and follow through with it even if it meant dying a brutal death on the cross.

One of the major benefits of surrendering your life to God is that you will enjoy His protection from evil that Satan’s demons or wicked people have plotted against your life.

This is why you won’t fear the wicked who try to plot for your downfall as you understand that the Lord is your confidence and He will protect you from the trap and snare the wicked may have set in your life as Proverbs 3:26 tells us in the old testament.

You must remember that God’s protection will only be activated in your life when you give and fully surrender your life to Him.

On the other hand, if you don’t surrender your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, you won’t enjoy this divine protection that He gives to the righteous who have trusted their lives to Him.

Implying that Psalms 91:1-16 will not apply to you as you are not dwelling in the secret place of the Most High yet as the Lord is only the refuge to those who fully trust their lives to Him.

Instead, you will be vulnerable to Satan’s demonic attacks in your life as the hedge of protection that the Lord Jesus Christ grants to the righteous who fully surrender their lives to Him will not be in your life at all.

Another benefit and blessing that will come when you surrender your life to God fully are that you will have the peace of mind that surpasses all understanding that this world simply cannot give you that Jesus Christ talks about in John 14:27 in the New Testament.

The false peace the world promises cannot truly satisfy your soul compared to the inner peace Jesus Christ will give you when you give your life to Him.

The other blessing that comes when you surrender all to God is that you will no longer have to worry about what tomorrow holds for us because when we surrender to God, everything is provided for us.

Our needs are taken care of according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19) and there is no reason to worry about what the future holds because it is in God’s hands. There are many times though where I still worry about the future and fear comes over me.

But, I know that I must bring these things before God and lay them down at His feet so that He can take care of them for me.

Remember Jeremiah 29:11 in the Old Testament tells us that the Lord knows the plans He has for you that are only good and to give you an expected end.

4. You’ll Receive Salvation & Eternal Life.

When you choose to give your life to Jesus Christ through genuine repentance, He grants you salvation and everlasting life He promises to all those who believe in Him (John 3:15-20).

Salvation and eternal life are the two greatest blessings and the most important things you will ever have in this life and beyond as they are the only things that will enable you to spend eternity with God in heaven when you die

Without salvation or eternal life the Lord Jesus Christ promises to all those who believe in Him and fully surrender their lives to Him, you have nothing but death. In short, your life is meaningless.

With that said, you have nothing to lose by surrendering your life to God but everything to gain. Moreover, if you remain stubborn and refuse to surrender your life to God so that your sins can be forgiven, you have everything to lose.

Furthermore, Isaiah 59:1,2 tells us that the Lord isn’t deaf and that He can’t hear our prayers but the sins that have separated us from Him are the reason why our prayers can’t be heard or answered.

This will be the case if you haven’t yet surrendered your sinful lifestyle to Jesus Christ. Only believers living surrendered lives get to enjoy the great benefits of having their prayers answered when they pray.

Therefore, if you want to have your prayers answered in your Christian life, live a surrendered life that brings glory to God and not a rebellious unsurrendered sinful lifestyle that glorifies sin, self, and Satan.

Many so-called believers wonder why their prayers aren’t answered when they pray and the simple answer to that question is they are not living surrendered lives and also the ongoing sin in their lives they aren’t yet willing to let go yet.
