Understanding The Importance Of Salvation & Why Care.

Understanding the importance of salvation as a true believer in Christ Jesus is vital as it’s what brings about eternal life found by only believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Salvation is a central tenet of the Christian faith. The traditional understanding of salvation is that it is the act of being saved from sin by God’s grace through faith in Christ.

You need to understand that salvation is a gift from God that God gives to those who believe in him. Implying that it’s not earned by our good works but it’s by God’s grace and mercy (Ephesians 2:8,9).

The first step in understanding the importance of salvation is what it saves us from and the eternal benefits it comes with that make it the most priceless treasure one will ever have here on earth and beyond.

Having said that, let’s look at what salvation saves us from that will help us in understanding the importance of salvation in the lives of all true Christians who are genuinely saved from sin.

What Is Salvation?

The simple definition of salvation simply means being saved from sin and its horrible consequences which is death as Romans 6:23 tells us in the New Testament.

Being saved from sin and the wrath to come is what salvation is all about. This very basic definition of salvation is why Jesus Christ due to the great love He had for us while we were yet sinners came to die for our sins.

Since the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose on the third day, anyone can now be saved today if they believe in Him and confess with their mouth that He’s Lord and God raised Him on the third day (Romans 10:9,10).

It’s important to note that this eternal salvation that saves a sinner from eternal death in hell is only found in Jesus Christ and no other person.

Henceforth, anyone who desires to be saved must believe in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross and nothing else. Believing in false religions and relying on your good works can’t save you as we are only saved by God’s grace through faith.

Why Is Salvation Important?

I am sure you may be wondering about that question as well. To begin with, salvation is important in every person’s life as it saves one from sin and the wrath to come (1 Thessalonians 1:10).

Salvation is the reason why we can have eternal life in Christ Jesus when we believe in Him with all our hearts. Additionally, salvation is what saves us from eternal death in hell.

Eternal death here refers to the eternal separation from God in the lake of fire, which will be the final fate of all unsaved sinners who reject God’s love gift of salvation and eternal life found in Christ Jesus while on earth.

One thing you need to understand dear as you are reading this is we are all sinners justly deserving of hell. However, God in His mercy sent His Son to bear this penalty of our sins by dying a brutal death on the cross.

Since God is rich in mercy as we are told in Ephesians 2:4-6, something had to be done to save us from sin and its horrible consequences caused by the fall of our first parents in the Garden of Eden in the Old Testament.

We Are All Sinners By Birth.

The fact that we are all under the curse of sin, is why we are all inherently sinful and prone to do bad things even if we don’t want to as we all have a sinful nature we are born with (Romans 8:3).

To redeem us from this predicament, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to die for our sins so that anyone who believes in Him for salvation and eternal life can be saved from sin (John 3:16) and the consequences it brings upon every sinner.

Salvation also is what will enable us to spend eternity with God in heaven when we die as it brings about everlasting life to all those who accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and savior.

You need to understand that only saved people who are washed by the blood of the Lamb will enter heaven as heaven is only for saved people who chose to believe and trust Jesus Christ for their salvation.

On the other hand, all unsaved people who reject Christ now due to their love of sin and stubbornness will spend their eternity in hell if they don’t repent and accept Christ in their life for them to be saved.

Salvation Is In Christ Alone.

Sadly, many have resorted to following false religions and relying on their good works for their salvation and entering heaven. However, God’s word is clear in Ephesians 2:8 that we are only saved by grace through faith, not our works lest we boast.

In addition, Acts 4:12 tells us that there is no salvation in any other name other than Jesus Christ as only He died for your sins and my sins so that you and I don’t have to perish in hell fire.

This implies that you can only be saved by believing and accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior in your heart and not by believing in false religions that are just there to give you false hopes and to lead you astray from the one true God.

If you are one person who believes in false religions for your salvation instead of believing in Jesus Christ, you will be greatly disappointed on the other side of eternity when you close your eyes in death when your earthly life is done.

The above reasons are why salvation is important in your life and why you need to have it if you don’t have it yet which I encourage you today right now as tomorrow isn’t promised and may be too late.

How To Obtain Genuine Salvation?

Being saved is simple but there are a few steps you need to take if you want to be genuinely saved. The first thing you need to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and what He did for you on the cross.

Call upon His name for your salvation and eternal life so that you can be saved this very hour and believe with all your heart by faith that He can save you. Romans 10:13 tell us that anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Secondly, after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ for the mercy and forgiveness of your sins, you need to repent and confess all the known sins you have committed.

Implying that you must be willing to forsake your sinful lifestyle as true repentance involves changing one’s mind about sin, forsaking it all together, and choosing to follow righteousness instead.

Proverbs 28:13 in the Old Testament tells us that anyone who confesses and forsakes their sins and sinful lifestyle will obtain mercy and forgiveness of their sins.

You need to understand that you can’t say you are truly repentant if you still go back to your old sins. For you to obtain genuine salvation and eternal redemption from God’s judgment sin brings, your repentance must be genuine.

Implying that you must be willing to forsake your current sinful lifestyle you may be living in be it that of drinking, sexual immorality, addictions, homosexuality, lesbianism, etc.

True Repentance Is Vital For Salvation.

Only then, will you be able to experience genuine salvation which results in a new birth experience all true believers have that makes you a new creation in Christ Jesus with a new nature as we are told in 2 Corinthians 5:17.

Without true repentance, you won’t be truly saved and thus escape God’s judgment that will come upon all unrepentant sinners who refuse to forsake their evil ways while God’s mercy is still extended to them while on earth.

After doing the above things with all your heart, you should be saved by now. The only thing left for you to do is to go and sin no more and find a Bible-believing church dedicated to teaching the truth that will help you continue in the Lord till the end.

I also encourage you to get baptized so that you can receive the Holy Spirit as that will certify that you are now alive and raised with Christ and dead to your old life of sin.

Yes, being saved is that simple and it’s no rocket science if you truly want to. The reason why most don’t get saved even after repenting many times every Sunday is they are still in love with their sins they are unwilling to let go.

Once you decide that you want nothing to do with sin, this very hour you can experience genuine salvation that will help you not return to your former sinful lifestyle and be free from the bondage of sin once and for all.
