5 Crucial Steps To Being Saved By God Today.

If you want to know how to be saved and have eternal life today, then this post on the 5 steps to being saved by God, is all you need and will show you how to go about this.

God by Sending His Son to die for our sins on the cross has made being saved from sin and having salvation simple. Even so, it’s not uncommon for people and many would-be believers to ask questions about how they can be saved by God.

If you are such a person, don’t despair as, by the end of this post, you will have known how you can be truly saved by God so that you can have a genuine salvation experience and not fake emotional experiences that produce no fruit.

With that said, let’s look at the 5 crucial steps to being saved by God you must take if you want to be genuinely saved today if you are not and be sure of making heaven should you unexpectedly die today.

5 Steps To Having Real Salvation Today.

Below are the 5 simple steps you must take if you want to be truly saved by our Lord Jesus Christ so that you can have salvation and eternal life right now.

  • Believe In The Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Repent & Confess Your Sins.
  • Accept Jesus Christ As Your Personal Saviour.
  • Get Baptized.
  • Stay Steadfast Until The End.

1. Believe In The Lord Jesus Christ.

The very first step to being saved by God you need to take is to believe by faith that Jesus Christ died for your sins on the cross and rose on the third day. This is the main theme of the gospel message of salvation.

Ephesians 2:8,9 also tell us that we are saved by grace through faith which happens when you believe in what Christ did for you on the cross. Salvation is by grace through faith, not our good works as you can’t earn salvation with good deeds.

In John 6:47, Jesus Christ tells us that, anyone who believes and received Him by faith will have everlasting life and won’t face death. Therefore, believing that Christ Jesus died for your sins is necessary for you to be saved.

If you don’t believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and that only He can grant you salvation and the forgiveness of your sins, you will perish and be damned in hell as John 3:18 tells us.

The apostle Paul further tells us in Romans 10:9, 10 in the New Testament, that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved as simple as that.

2. Repent & Confess Your Sins.

Secondly, after believing that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save you from sin and the horrible consequences it brings upon every unrepentant sinner, you now need to repent and confess your sins to obtain forgiveness and pardon for your sins.

By repenting and confessing your sins, to show that you are truly sorry for the life of sin you have been living up until now. Genuine repentance is crucial to being saved as Jesus Christ commands it in Luke 13:3.

He said in the above bible verse that unless you repent of your life of sin, you shall likewise perish. This makes sense because genuine repentance signifies that you no longer want to live a life of sin.

The repentance Jesus Christ talks about here is the one where your change your mind about sin by forsaking your sinful lifestyle and turning to God to follow righteousness.

After truly repenting of your sins, you need to confess and forsake your sins to obtain mercy and forgiveness as Proverbs 28:13 tells us in the Old Testament. Doing so will show your repentance is genuine.

3. Accept Jesus As Your Personal Saviour.

Thirdly, after repenting and confessing your sins whatever they may be in your salvation prayer, you need to fully accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior.

Accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior simply mean letting Jesus Christ come into your heart and letting Him have full control over your life.

It also means sincerely believing with all your heart by faith and that only Him and no one else can grant you salvation as Acts 4:12 tells us and save you from eternal death and eternal separation from God in hell sin brings upon all unsaved sinners.

When you truly accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, something, interesting happens which is that you now become spiritually alive in Christ and become dead to sin as we are told in Ephesians 2:5.

If you refuse to accept Christ Jesus as your Lord and savior, you cannot be saved from sin and death sin brings (Romans 6:23) and if you die rejecting Christ, hell is where you will have to spend the rest of your eternity.

4. Get Baptized.

After following the above steps, you should now be saved provided you did the above 3 things with all your heart. Now, you need to get baptized by water.

Water baptism is important for you as a new convert because it symbolizes your new birth in Christ Jesus and it’s a public declaration of your faith. It also symbolizes that you are baptized in the death of Christ and you are risen with Him.

You need to note that water baptism isn’t what saves you from sin or grants you salvation as that comes after you become saved. So, if you get baptized before being saved, it means nothing.

This can be seen in the believers of the early church in Acts 2:41 who were baptized after repenting of their sins and being saved, not before that.

Water baptism is also essential as it enables you to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost in its fullness. So, if you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit and be effective in God‘s kingdom or ministry, go baptized after getting saved as soon as possible.

5. Stay Steadfast Until The End.

Last but not least, all that remains is to now continue on this new Christian walk you have started with the Lord till the end. Implying that you must not go back to your old sinful lifestyle you have forsaken.

If you do, it shows that your conversion and repentance aren’t genuine at all and that you are yet to be truly saved and have that definite salvation experience that leads to the new birth and makes you a new creature in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Jesus Christ tells us in Matthews 24:13 that only if you endure up to the end without backsliding, will you be finally saved from the eternal punishment and wrath to come that will be on all unrepentant sinners and backsliders.

So, if you have gotten saved after reading this, my message and encouragement to you are to remain steadfast and go and sin no more. This is the same message Jesus Christ has for you just as He told the woman caught in adultery in John 8:11.

Yes, the Christian journey you have begun won’t be easy as Satan through various temptations will try to lure you back to your old life of sin. But, by God’s grace, you will finish your race with joy set for you and receive your crown of life finally.

  1. Hello, I stumbled onto your site and wanted to let you know that your interpretation about salvation is not totally accurate. I would like to share the truths from the New Testament as given to us revealed.by the Holy Spirit in the bible.

Our God and Father, His beloved Son our Savior Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit have offered us a wonderful gift of salvation through faith for all those who believe. They offer redemption of our souls through the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to be forgiven for our sins (Matthew 26:28, Acts 2:38, Galatians 3:10-14, Colossians 1:10-14, Titus 2:11-14, Hebrews 9:11-24, Hebrews 13:20-21), and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38), and to be given a newness of life (Romans 6:3-7, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 4:17-27, Colossians 3:1-17), and an appeal to God for a good conscience (1 Peter 3:21), and a new start so we can be the people that God wants us to be through His beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit (Romans 13:1-14, Titus 2:1-15, Titus 3:1-8,14, 1 Peter 2:9-17 , 2 Peter 1:1-11 NASB).

To begin this new journey in life to an eternal life of love, joy and peace you must have faith (Acts 3:16, Acts 6:7, Acts 20:21, Acts 26:18, Romans 1:5, Romans 5:1-5, 1 Corinthians 2:5, 2 Corinthians 5:7, Ephesians 2:11-22, Hebrews 11:1, James 1:3, 1 John 5:4). And you must hear or read the word of God about the gospel of His beloved Son Jesus Christ, (Matthew 7:24, John 1:12-13, Acts 3:16, Acts 16:14-15 ASV, Romans 1:16-17 NASB, Romans 10:17 NASB, Romans 12:3 NASB, Galatians 3:2, 1 John 5:13, Jude 1:3).
    :
The way you are to express your belief and trust in His beloved Son is that you are to repent of your sins, confess Jesus is the Christ the Son of Living God and be baptized (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-16, Luke 13:1-5, Luke 24:47, John 8:24, John 11:25-27, John 20:30-31 NASB, Acts 2:38, Acts 8:12, Acts 22:16), and learn and obey the commandments and the teachings that our Lord Jesus Christ has given us (Matthew 7:24-27, Matthew 11:28-30 KJV, Matthew 28:20, Luke 20:21, John 7:16), and His Apostles teachings (Acts 1:1-2, Acts 2:42, Romans 1:1-6), and the Hebrews writer (Hebrews 1:1-4), and the Lord’s brothers James and Jude (Matthew 13:55 NASB, 1 Corinthians 9:5, James 1:1, Jude 1:1), and the former teachings and examples of the Old Testament revealed to us by the men of God as they were moved by the Holy Spirit as written in the inspired word of God (Romans 15:4 KJV, 2 Timothy 3:16 NASB, 2 Peter 1:19-21). and live a life being faithful and obedient until death (Matthew 16:26, Luke 8:15, Luke 21:19, Romans 5:1-5, Romans 8:18-25, Hebrews 10:35-39, Hebrews 12:1-17 ASV, James 1:3-4, James 5:10-11, 1 Peter 2:19-25, 1 Peter 3:14-17 KJV, Revelation 2:10-11, Revelation 3:10-11).
