What is the true meaning of life according to the bible? How can we find our life purpose, meaning, and satisfaction our human soul deeply craves?
I am sure you have asked yourself this question at some point in your life. If you are such a person, you are not alone as the existential crisis is real and has affected many people including many Christians and believers.
To know the real meaning of life, we need to go back to the source of life who’s God as we are told in John 1:4-14 in the New Testament who created us in His own image.
Any attempts to go outside God and the bible to find out the meaning and purpose of life will just lead to a dead end. Sadly, this is what many people are doing as they are looking in the wrong places to find purpose and meaning in their lives.
With that said, let’s found out what is the meaning of life according to the bible that will help you finally understand what this life is all about and help you live a meaningful life that glorifies God.
Meaning Of Life According To The World.
The world has sadly gotten it all wrong when it comes to finding out what the real purpose and meaning of life are. Worldly and humanistic standards view life in the terms of money, material possessions, wealth, relationships, the job you have, etc.
This explains why many are involved in the vain pursuit of material things, jobs, worldly success, relationships, etc. they pursue anything in this world but our Lord Jesus Christ the author of our salvation and eternal life (John 3:15-17).
However, even when, many people have achieved these worldly things such as success or fame, they still have a deep void inside and wonder why despite having all the money, relationships, and successes of this world they still feel empty inside.
It is why you see rich people with all the money, women, and success in this world still commit suicide and still feel empty inside. Why? If you ask?
The simple answer to that question is the real meaning and purpose of our lives and existence cannot be found in the riches, jobs, and successes of this world but in Christ Jesus only (John 10:10).
Tragically, many people in this materialistic world we live in think that the meaning of life is found in having more money, fancy cars and houses, and cluttering themselves with stuff they don’t need at all.
Living up to the Jones of the west is sadly what life is all about for many people who always compare themselves to their neighbors. Earning and having more stuff than the neighbor is what life has become for most people.

Life Is Meaningless Without God.
It is why the author of the book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament, King Solomon in Ecclesiastes 1:1-11 tells us that indeed life is vanity and without any purpose especially if it’s without God.
From the above bible verse and chapter, we can see that all the pursuits of this world of wanting to have money, a good job, wealth, and riches are all vanity and meaningless in the end if you are without God.
Sadly, many in the materialistic world we live in have lost sight of this bitter truth of life. You need to understand that whatever successes, riches, money, and wealth you accumulated in your life will not go with you to the grave.
When you die, all the success and material wealth you gathered in your life will have to be left behind because as Job 1:21,22 tells us, we came naked into this world, and we will return likewise to the grave.
Jesus Christ goes on to further say in Luke 12:15 that we must be wary of covetousness and greed as one’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of money, houses, and material possessions one has.
Many sadly have made their lives about the pursuit of the mundane material things of this world be it money, fancy cars, jobs, fancy houses, etc. that cannot even satisfy the deepest desires of your heart and soul that only God can satisfy.
You can have all the money, good jobs, good relationships, education, success, and riches this world has to offer but if you are without Jesus Christ, your life is completely meaningless and you will always have a void in your life that’s unfilled.
Meaning Of Life According To The Bible?
If you want to know the real meaning of life and what life is all about both now and in the world to come in eternity, you need to go back to God’s word and find out what the bible has to say about what life is all about.
According to the Bible, the real meaning of life is found in the Lord Jesus Christ who promises salvation and eternal life to anyone who believes in Him (John 6:47).
The reason for this is that, since the fall of Adam, we are all born spiritually dead due to sin. Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin are eternal death in hell but God’s gift is eternal life through Christ Jesus.
It is why Jesus Christ says in John 10:10 as we earlier saw that He came here on earth so that we can have life and have it more abundantly which can only happen if you receive and accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior.
Implying that you need to accept the offer of salvation and everlasting life Christ is offering you today through His death on the cross and His resurrection.
I can promise you that if you are without Christ, your life has no meaning as you won’t be able to spend eternity with God in heaven when you die. It’s why you will still feel empty despite having all the success, riches, and money this world has to offer.
Instead, you will have to face eternal death and separation from God in hell if you die without accepting Christ Jesus as your Lord and savior by faith.

The Real Meaning Of Life Is In Christ.
You need to understand that as Isaiah 43:7 tells us, we are all created for God’s glory which is the main purpose He created us in the first place and our lives are more than this earthly life we have.
God created us so that we can forever spend eternity with Him in heaven but that plan was interrupted when our first parent fell.
For this reason, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to mend our broken relationship with God due to sin so that we can finally spend eternity with God in heaven as originally intended.
To sum it up our meaning of life according to the bible is wrapped in giving glory to God in all we do and finally spending eternity with Him in heaven when we close our eyes in death.
Anything short of that is meaningless which sadly the people of this world with their worldly wisdom about what life is all about fail to understand.
If you have not surrendered your life to Jesus Christ yet, I encourage you to do it today as tomorrow isn’t promised. Jesus Christ is the only person that can give you the meaning and purpose your soul deeply crave for your life.
All these other things such as money, education, riches, relationships, fame, success, etc. many are chasing cannot fill the void that only Christ Jesus can by giving you salvation and eternal life that will enable you to be with Him in heaven when you die forever.
